How To Build A True Identity

Good evening beautiful people..
Hiya doing? Trust you had a wonderful day. My day was a lil bit stresful, sleepy in between..This morning while I was chatting with God, I said chatting because overtime I have found this way of praying…fun, interesting and communicative than the classic- wake up, kneel down, shut your eyes tight method of praying…most times I sleep off in between, mumble the words and just get it done…overtime it became more of a tradition than actually communing with God. Then, I discovered this new way of praying, I personally feel is way easier, fun and interactive. Sorry,I digressed a lil bit…the conversation went thus..
Themie: Daddy, good morning….Thank you for the gift of life…thank you for…thank you for…I want to take a break from the sexual abuse series, I have no idea what to write about, please help me, inspire me on what to write….
And God told me to write on identity..not like I heard a voice from the skies saying, ”my daughter…my daughter….” anyways but I felt this urge in in my spirit to write on this topic..so here we are..

Up until the earlier/early part of this year, I didn’t know who I was. Inwardly..I was fearful, ashamed, insecure, rejected, worthless, inadequate.. Outwardly, I presented myself as the bold, tough, confident Themie…and that is the Themie a large percentage of you know. Well, the reason isn’t far fetched…I was a victim of sexual abuse, coupled with some major life issues. The way God revealed it to me, satan is the culprit…It is called -THE PLOT OF SATAN.

Everyone has a glorious purpose, No body is a biological accident…the devil sees this and begins to attack each and everyone of us right from when we were born :He puts teachers in our classrooms to call us stupid. He sends Friends to call us dumb and “no good.” He gives us parents who tell us, “You’ll never be anything.” He sends uncles, sisters, maids, parents to abuse us sexually, verbally, emotionally and physically. His main goal is to take us away from God and our purpose.

That is why…Tola, a victim of sexual abuse is in pain and misery, grows up to hate men…and becomes the Tough Girl -the classic take-charge, task-oriented, no-nonsense lady. She is a woman who lives behind thick, impenetrable walls that keeps people from drawing close. She believes emotions are to be conquered and controlled. so that no one can cause her pain again. She is suspicious, critical, arrogant and angry. Tola will make a good lawyer, doctor, actress, singer but an undersirable partner, wife, friend, sister and mother.

Kunle was sexually abused by their maid when he was young, he becomes sexually active at a young age…the sexual urge becomes uncontrollable and he begins to sleep around. In an attempt to Fill the void that comes from it, he becomes a drug addict, an alcoholic…

I could go on and on and create more scenarios…but that is the idea…that is what the devil wants you and I to be – the classic cheat, the undesirable mother, the drug addict, the abusive father, the promiscous lady. Because he knows all this will bring you misery and pain and you will become so lost that you lose sight of who you are and your purpose.

Without knowing our true identity we will continue to live from false beliefs, make poor decisions, live in pain and misery and will be unable to fulfil that glorious purpose for which you and I were born.

For us to let go of that false identity and have a new identity. It is essential for us to come to the knowledge of Jesus christ, the knowledge of truth and the knowledge of who we are in christ Jesus.

Here are some of the characteristics of our TRUE IDENTITY IN CHRIST.

Romans 8:35, 38-39 In Christ, I am unconditionally loved
